Local Shops include a Convenience Store, Newsagent, Laundrette, Hairdresser, Café,  Fish & Chip Shop, Chinese Takeaway & superb Indian restaurant, Bombay Palace.

Further afield in the Town (about 10 minutes walk) are an abundance of good restaurants, bars and shops as well as the usual banks etc,  a Co-operative store and the Commodore Cinema and Bingo Club.

On the Esplanade, within a few minutes walk, you will find the following amenities:-

The vast beach opposite Lionstone House is very sandy and ideal for flying kites and because the water is shallow it is also very popular for Kite Surfing;

About 10 mins walk along the Esplanade takes you to Puckpool Park with crazy golf,  tennis, large childrens’ playground and Puckpool Tea Gardens.

The IOW Bus Museum has a Bus Running weekend 20th/21st May, and a Beer and Buses Weekend 14th/15th October.  (Click on link for more details.) There are plenty of local walks including a coastal walk to Seaview via the bird watching facility on the Duver and a countryside walk to the west towards Fishbourne via Ryde Golf Course and Quarr Abbey, which is a fascinating building in extensive grounds with another lovely café.  For more serious walkers there is the Isle of Wight Walking Festival  (April 30th – 15th May)  and Walk the Wight, long and short walk, on May 15th for the Hospice.  Another great way to see the Island is by bike & we have the IOW Cycling Festival each year.  (5th – 27th September 2016)
